For any rider who prefers the classic performance of a traditional four-line C, the Best Yarga stands in the lineup to fulfill the needs of dedicated freestyle riders. Touted by Best as the ultimate for unhooked handling and solid power delivery, the Yarga looks and feels like your old C kite. Style: Four-line C kite with fifth-line option Wind range: 13-26 knots, expert (180 pounds) What’s new: New-school C-kite performance, wide wingtips, fifth-line safety Bar setup and safety systems The Best four-line bar has an ergonomic, colour-coded grip, with the option of a fifth-line attachment for added stability and safety. The large-diameter chicken loop ensures easy unhooking and reengagement, and the short-throw chicken line enables easy trim-strap adjustment of the pull-pull depower strap. An updated front-line swivel keeps lines tangle-free. Leash can be attached to the front lines above the bar or by suicide to the chicken line. Key kite features This kite has a traditional shape, with wider, squared wingtips. It’s loaded with Best’s exclusive construction technology, including Load Flex LE seam, solid airframe, mark-cloth upper-canopy protection, ABC guard-cloth strut protection, trailing-edge battens and high-quality materials. This kite has the traditional separate strut and LE inflation system. On-water performance The Yarga is all about unhooked performance, and it’s geared to the freestyle rider who dominates in the new school. It has the smoothest and most comfortable unhooked pull, and gives the rider confidence to try any advanced technical manoeuvre. Testers admire the bar’s comfortable grip, and the extra-large chicken loop makes it the easiest of any kite to hook in and out of. Good pop and moderate glide, it has a nice power band while kite looping. The Yarga has no tendency to back fly if oversheeted, and quick adjustments to back-line tension can be made with the easy-to-reach trim strap above the short throw line. Wind range is limited, and the kite likes lots of power with less depower available with sheeting. The kite responds well to edging and can be pulled ahead in the window easily with proper board control and rider input. Reality check The fifth-line system is tedious, with a lot of lines to untangle because both the fifth line and steering lines meet at the trim-line strap. Not as much depower as many modern C kites. Bottom line Look to the Yarga if you want a kite in your quiver that delivers the best in unhooked performance.
